More STEPS
This is a peer support group for young people ages 13 - 21 who are at risk of delinquency, educational problems or social difficulties. Under guidance of a staff role model, participants meet regularly for vocational exploration, recreation, tutoring, and social activites. These efforts encourage responsibility, accountability, and community involvement.
Qualifications:
Referrals for STEPS/TASA and More STEPS can be completed by anyone familiar with an individual's circumstances such as a teacher, doctor, community agency, or a family member. The Department of Social Services will automatically refer individuals to our program if they are involved in their services. After the referral is made the individual will be contacted to set up an intake visit by one of our case managers.
Payment:
STEPS/TASA and More STEPS are FREE of charge to all participants.
Participation:
This is a client centered goal program that addresses the concerns of each individual. Clients work closely with staff to implement the strategies and maintain involvement and effort.
Typical Length of Stay;
There is no expectation for length of stay. Some individuals are in the program for a few months and others can be involved until they reach 21 years of age.
Program Expectations:
Individuals are expected to consistently meet their case worker and work toward the program's goals and objectives.
