Peer Support Services

Peer Support is a consumer driven support program that provides loosely structured community supports, such as transportation and informal social and recreational group activities, such as movies and community events.  The Peer Support staff also transports consumers for shopping and laundry trips and helps with paperwork, personal planning, and transportation on a one-on-one basis.

Qualification:

This program is open to any consumer of mental health services. Participants must be able to function in the community without professional supervision in order to successfully join in the social and recreational activities the group plans.

Payment:

There is no cost to consumers who participate in this program. The program is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health.  Tickets or entrance fees for activities are paid by the program.

Participation:

Consumers call the Peer Support staff to schedule transportation or reserve seats for social and recreational events in advance. Participants must be able to manage themselves independently in the community.

Typical Length of Stay:

This program is available as needed or desired.

Program Expectation:

Participants in this program need to be stable at the time they are participating with the Peer Support staff
